Real Madrid’s roster depth was an issue for the club last season, and it still is. Their options for the future have been severely limited since Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz, and Marco Asensio all left at the end of the previous season. Los Blancos must find replacements.
Much has been said about their striker shortage. However, the scenario is very similar when it comes to the wings.
Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are the club’s only two natural wingers at the moment. Fede Valverde and summer signing Arda Guler can also play there, but they are stronger elsewhere on the field.
As a result, Real Madrid could use more options on the wings. Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze is one man they should absolutely keep an eye on.
Chukwueze’s skills should be well known to Real Madrid by now. Last season, he put forth a stunning display against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring a wonderful brace as Villarreal won 3-2.
Following Chukwueze’s match-winning effort, there were rumors that Real Madrid were interested in signing him. Those links, however, have fallen silent since then.
Chukwueze, on the other hand, would be a fantastic signing for Real Madrid, since the Nigeria international is coming off of his best season yet. According to Transfermarkt statistics, he scored 13 goals and assisted 11 times in 50 appearances in 2022/23.
Chukwueze’s current contract with Villarreal will expire in the summer of 2024. That suggests he’s very likely to leave the club during this time frame. Yellow Submarine is expected to demand a transfer price of roughly €30 million in order to part ways with the Nigerian international. He was also connected with AC Milan, although such rumors never materialized.
