Leading company in Nigeria’s insurance market, Leadway Assurance Company Limited, has undergone a major leadership change in compliance with National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) regulations.
The Board of Directors stated that Mr. Gboyega Lesi has been appointed as the Acting Managing Director of Leadway Assurance Company Limited, with effect from January 1, 2024, in accordance with NAICOM’s criteria regarding the maximum term limits for executives.
This appointment is subject to the requisite regulatory approval from NAICOM.
This calculated action demonstrates Leadway Assurance Company Limited’s dedication to upholding the strictest corporate governance guidelines and following legal requirements.
The Board conveyed trust in Mr. Gboyega Lesi’s leadership qualities, which have been reinforced by his long-standing strong cooperation with Mr. Tunde Hassan-Odukale.

Mr. Gboyega Lesi attended the University of Lagos in Nigeria to study civil engineering. He began his career in insurance more than 25 years ago as a trainee risk surveyor.
Since then, he has expanded his knowledge in a number of risk management, insurance broking, product development, underwriting, Bancassurance, and sales-related areas.
Over the years, Mr. Lesi has taken a number of courses, both domestically and outside, with a focus on insurance underwriting, risk management, strategy, management, operations, and marketing. In addition to a B.Sc.
Mr. Lesi holds an MBA from Aston University in Birmingham, UK, and a degree in civil engineering. In addition, Mr. Lesi is a member of the London-based Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and Nigeria.
Mr. Gboyega Lesi served as the company’s Executive Director, Commercial, before being named Managing Director.
