Adedeji Adeleke, the father of award-winning superstar David, often known as Davido, has disclosed the process he went through to obtain an environmental permit for his $2 billion power plant.
The wealthy entrepreneur announced this while presenting as a Layperson from the West-Central Africa Division at the Seventh Day Adventist General Conference Annual Council on Tuesday in Maryland, United States of America.
While describing his experience as a Baptist member, Adeleke described how he encountered difficulties with ‘difficult government authorities’, with one official telling him that the project would never’see the light of day’.
He stated that he got to his knees and prayed to God because he did not want to take the government official’s declaration as the last word for his company, Pacific Energy, which was closely collaborating with Chinese engineering companies on the building and design of power projects.
“I am a businessman in Nigeria. I’m into the electricity business. I own a power plant, I generate about 15 per cent of the electricity needs for Nigeria. I have Chinese engineering companies that work for me. I’m building the biggest power plant in Nigeria that will be completed in January 2025. It is a 1,250-megawatt power plant.

Adeleke went on to say that his Chinese friend had to fly to Nigeria to discuss a solution since he never thought prayer would be enough to complete the project, despite the fact that the then-Minister of Power granted consent because he saw the proposal as brilliant.
Adeleke previously discussed this power project while presenting a lecture note at Adeleke University’s 9th graduation ceremony in Ede, Osun State, in July 2023.
