Burna Boy Is A Great Musician, Says 2Baba

Burna Boy has been referred to be a “great music icon” by Nigerian artist Innocent Idibia (also known as 2Baba).

On Tuesday, 2Baba posted a video of Burna Boy’s live performance from his ongoing ‘I Told Them’ tour on his Instagram story.

The ‘African Queen’ hitmaker praised him for working hard to reach the top tier of the music industry.

“This young man has worked, proven, and stamped himself as one of the greatest music icons,” he wrote.

“Hate him or love him, it won’t change that fact. Kudos to everyone that is part of making this fact happen. Oluwa Burnafide.”

2Baba originally gained popularity as the frontman of Plantashun Boiz in 1999.

His 2004 single, “African Queen,” has been hailed as one of the biggest blockbusters to come out of Africa.

The Afrobeats veteran has previously stated that he is unconcerned about younger artists not acknowledging his legacy.

Burna Boy, on the other hand, began to gain notice in 2013 after releasing ‘Like to Party,’ the lead song off his debut album ‘L.I.F.E.’

In 2020, he claimed to have taken the Afrobeats genre into the mainstream, where it is now widely recognized in the West.

“FACT! I always knew I was and I am THE BEST. Everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m BEST since Fela Kuti,” he had said.

The Afrofusion musician set a Nigerian record in 2021 when his fifth album, ‘Twice As Tall’, received the Grammy Award for ‘Best World Music Album’.

Last month, a community in the United States recognized March 2 as Burna Boy’s Day to honor his artistic accomplishments and advocacy activities.
