Professor Temitope Jaiyeola, a Celestial Church of Christ evangelist and lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been appointed to the Pastor Enoch Adeboye Professorial Chair at the University of Lagos’ Department of Mathematics.
The RCCG General Overseer established the Pastor Enoch Adeboye Professorial Chair in 2009 as part of his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the University, after becoming the first person to earn a Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University.
According to the University’s communication section, an occupier of the chair is required to teach and supervise existing or newly devised Mathematics courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as conduct research in any specialized area of Mathematics for the University.
The occupier is also expected to give an annual lecture (every year) and a final public lecture on his or her accomplishments at the end of the tenure.
The mathematics professor, who is also a Director at Christ Beyond Borders International (CBBI) in the United Kingdom, was recently chosen following a thorough application procedure; the appointment is anticipated to take effect on December 29, 2023 and will last two years.
In response to the development, Shepherd Paul Tunde Soile, founder and International Director of CBBI UK, described the appointment as well-deserved and highly meritorious, given Professor Jaiyeola’s exceptional brilliance and excellence in the mathematical world over the years.
He added that the appointment is a clear testament to Professor Jaiyeola’s versatility and exceptional academic track record, which has earned him accolades and awards all over the world.
While Evangelist Francis Tunji Odebiyi, chairman of CBBI’s International Advisory Board, congratulated Professor Jaiyeola on his achievement, Mrs Janet Soile, Director-General of the Gender-Based Initiatives (GBI), a subsidiary of CBBI, praised the mathematics professor, describing the appointment as a noble accomplishment worthy of emulation.
Mrs. Soile stated that Professor Jaiyeola has distinguished himself throughout the years as a purposeful and result-driven mathematician as well as a deeply embedded evangelist in the Celestial fold.
She stated that the job will undoubtedly motivate the professor to achieve greater success in his professional career.
