Early Life & Education
Crayon was born on November 21, 2000, in Lagos State. He is from Ebonyi State, which is located in southeastern Nigeria. He attended both primary and secondary school in Lagos State.
Crayon revealed in a recent interview that he took the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board exam five times before becoming famous. On Sunday, August 28, 2022, the aspiring musician revealed this in an interview with Rubbin’ Minds.
Prior to becoming a well-known singer, the Mavin star stated that he had been making music since 2016 while waiting to be admitted to university.
He had to retake the JAMB exam five times; the first two times he failed, but the other three times he passed but was still denied admission.
Crayon believes that not being admitted was God’s way of redirecting his path.
Crayon’s musical journey began in 2008. He later met with Ozedikus, a record producer who had previously worked on Rema’s “Corny” and other tracks. On May 25, 2019, Crayon was discovered by Baby Fresh, a Mavin Records producer, who recognized the singer’s potential and immediately signed him to “BlowTime Entertainment,” an imprint of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records.
He was a featured artist on the Mavins’ all-star song “All Is In Order,” which also featured DNA, Rema, Don Jazzy, and Korede Bello. Ladipoe also featured him in “Based On Kpa,” which caused a stir and received a lot of airplay. On July 12, 2019, Crayon released “Cray Cray,” a six-track EP project, as his first official project under Blowtime Entertainment/Mavin Records. Clarance Peter shot and directed the music video for the project’s song “So Fine.”
