Efa Iwara (born August 20, 1986) is a talented Nigerian actor and rapper. He is popularly referred to as Efa.
Early Life & Education
Iwara was born on August 30, 1990, in Ibadan, Oyo State, to a linguistics professor father and a librarian mother. He is a native of Cross River State, a state in Nigeria’s South-South geopolitical zone. He attended UI Staff School in Ibadan for elementary school and the International School for secondary school. Efa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Ibadan.
Career
Efa Iwara began his musical career in 2006 with the band X-Factor, which also included DJ Clem, Bolaji, Jide, and Boye. After the group split up, he released his debut song and a five-track EP called Waka EP in 2011. “Fall in Love,” his most recent official song, was released in 2014 with Plantashun Boiz.
He made his acting debut in a 2011 episode of Tinsel as a debate moderator. He was, however, still involved with music at the time. His subsequent appearance was in the first season of MTV Shuga Naija in 2013. He didn’t return to acting until 2016, when he appeared on Ebonylife TV’s Life 101.
He has since appeared in a number of television shows, including The Men’s Club, Ajoche, an original Africa Magic production, and Rumor Has It. In addition to Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, Seven, and Isoken, Efa has appeared in the films Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, Seven, and Isoken. He received his first nomination for an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for his work in Seven (AMVCA).
