British actress Genoveva Kenechukwu Umeh was born in Nigeria. Her birthday is May 8, 1995. She is a native of Anambra State, which is located in the country’s east. She is well-known for playing Timeyin in the original Netflix crime thriller Blood Sisters (2022). For her performance as “Anita” in the drama movie “A Tune Away,” she received a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2022 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (2020).
She played the role of “Ayobami” for ROK Studios’ “Survivor’s Guilt” series. She also played Khafilat in the 2021 short film “Lizard,” which was nominated for a Bafta, and Anita in the Netflix films “One Lagos Night” and “Love is War.” At the African Women Arts & Film festival (AWAFFEST) 2022, the short film she starred in, “Focus,” took home the award for best Drama from Top Shorts, Ijo Screening. She graduated from the Identity School of Acting in the UK, the Ebonylife Creative Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, and the University of Surrey in the UK with an LLB in law. Genoveva, a rising star who is proficient in Igbo, enjoys taking on challenges and being active.
Early Life & Education
Genoveva Umeh, a Nigerian-British, was born in the middle of the 1990s into the Umeh family. She received her primary education in the country where she was raised, the United Kingdom. Genoveva relocated to the UK with her family in 2006. She received her Nursery & Primary 1 education at the First Cyprian Nursery & Primary School in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State, her JSS1 education at the Command Day Primary School in Enugu, her high school education at the St. Mary’s and St. John’s CE School in London. She also studied acting at the Identity School of Acting in the UK, where she graduated in 2018 with a law degree.
Career
Genoveva returned to Lagos to continue her acting career after graduating from school in 2018. She then landed her first starring role in a series that was filmed in Enugu.
In August 2018, Genoveva Umeh began working as a full-time professional actor. She has been in a number of well-known and successful Nollywood films. She was a member of the inaugural class of 2021 to enroll at the Ebonylife Creative Academy. Her skill was discovered throughout the course by Kenneth Gyang, the then-HOD of the Directing department, who then referred her to Mo Abudu, the CEO of EbonyLife Media.
In 2022, she starred in the Netflix Original series, Blood Sisters playing the lead role of Timeyin, produced by Ebonylife Studios.
