Early Life

In the late 1970s, the renowned international movie star was born in Oxford, England to Nigerian parents.

David was born on April 1, 1976, in Edo State, to an Edo mother and an Oyo father.

David is originally from Oyo State.

Oyo State is a state in Nigeria’s south-western region.

David spent his formative years in London. He later returned to Lagos, Nigeria, and enrolled in a military-style boarding school.

David returned to Islington when he was 14 years old. He enrolled in Theatre Studies at City and Islington College.

Following that, he enrolled in the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art’s acting foundation course (LAMDA).

He went on to train at the National Youth Theatre after finishing his three-year course in 1998.

Early Career

David Oyelowo joined the movie industry popularly known as Hollywood in 1998.
