Davido, the Afrobeats musician, has showed his support for Cuba Chief Priest, the nightlife promoter who was granted bail by a Lagos court.
On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged the social media celebrity with three counts of alleged naira abuse.
Cubana, born Pascal Okechukwu, is accused of spraying and tampering with naira during a social function, which violates the rules of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
He was later charged at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
When the allegations were read in court, the social media personality pleaded not guilty to them.
The court, Kehinde Ogundare, then granted him bail in the amount of N10 million with two responsible sureties in the same sum.
The judge determined that the bail terms must be met within seven days.
Cubana was released to his lawyer, who must agree to present him later. If his counsel fails to act, he will be lodged in a detention facility.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the nightlife organizer expressed gratitude to his supporters for their support during the trial.
“Seeing all your messages and love, I am so humbled. Now it is confirmed CP no small. Money na water,” he wrote.
Reacting in the comment section of the post, Davido said it is impossible for him not to see Cubana for six months.
“I no go see you for six months ke? Never,” the music star wrote in pidgin English.
Cubana’s arraignment came only days after Bobrisky, another social media personality, was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse.
Last Friday, Abimbola Awogboro, a federal high court judge in Lagos, ruled that Bobrisky’s punishment is without the option of a fee.
The EFCC is probing numerous celebrities for possible currency abuse.
