I Got Death Threat over Rumoured Pregnancy for Rapper Future – Tems

Tems, a Grammy winner, claims she received death threats because of a rumored pregnancy for American rapper Future.

In September, the singer fueled pregnancy rumors by wearing a black dress with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2023 London Fashion Week display.

Some social media users speculated that she was hiding a baby bump. Others speculated that Future was the father.

The singer, however, dismissed the speculations.

In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Tems addressed the rumors, saying that several people filled her DMs with threatening comments.

Some even questioned her decision to allow Future to “allegedly impregnate” her, according to the Oscar-nominated singer.

Despite working on the smash song ‘Wait For U’ with Drake, Tems claims she has never met the rapper.

“When I heard that I was pregnant, I did not actually think anybody believed it,” she said.

“I did not know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I have never met him in my life. So it’s crazy.”

Born Temilade Openiyi, Tems gained global recognition in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’.

In February, the songstress won her first-ever Grammy award.

She bagged the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U’.

She was recently honoured by TIME magazine and listed among their top 100 for 2023.

In August, Tems opened up about the reason she ditched Afrobeats for R&B.

She said Afrobeats was not giving her the type of “spiritual stimulation” she wanted.

She added that she “was prepared to die” for her belief and stick with R&B.
