Illbliss Biography: Inside The Life Of Nigerian Rapper and the Owner of Goretti Company

Tobechukwu Melvin Okafor is Illbliss’ real name. He is also referred to as Oga Boss. He is a Nigerian rapper and businessman who owns the Goretti Company. In 2009, Illbliss released his debut album, Dat Ibo Boy, which included the song Aiye Po Gan! (Enuf Space). In 2019, he made his acting debut in the Nollywood hit film King of Boys, playing the role of Odogwu Maley.

Early Life

Illbliss was born in Enugu State on December 30, 1979. He was born and raised in Enugu State, which is located in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone. He and his entire educational background are from Enugu State. During his childhood, he was exposed to a variety of highlife and folklore songs by prominent music legends such as Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Sonny Okosun, Charly Boy, Sir Shina Peters, and others, which inspired him to begin composing lyrics.

Career

During his undergraduate years, Illbliss began his journey into professional music by performing on campus at faculty and departmental gatherings, plays, and concerts. He won the hearts of many college students with his clever one-liners and sympathetic rap rhymes.

After graduation, Illbliss began his professional career, spending a lot of time recording at a friend’s studio. He got his big break when he released the song U Go Wound O. The song was a huge hit in the Nigerian music industry, propelling Illbliss to stardom. Because of his recent success, he has been asked to perform at a variety of music events across the country.

Following the success of U Go Wound O, Illbliss began working on his first studio album with zeal. Dat Ibo Boy, his debut album, was released in 2009. Because he was already a prominent figure in the field, Illbliss made the decision to pursue his professional ambition. As a result, he established The Goretti Company, a record label that also functioned as a talent management firm. He has achieved success in the music industry and is known for assisting artists such as Phyno and Chidinma in breaking into the industry and establishing lucrative careers. He co-owns Capital Hills Records with Clarence Peters and serves as its managing partner.

Illbliss is also a performer. His acting debut came with his role in the popular film King of Boys. He excelled as an actor and won the hearts of many Nigerians in the film by portraying mafia leader Odogwu Malay. He reprised his role as Odogwu Malay in the sequel, The King Of Boys 2.

Personal Life

In 2009, Illbliss wed Munachiso Ejiofor, and the couple has been blessed with lovely children.
