Isaac Success Ajayi (born January 7, 1996) is a professional footballer from Nigeria who plays as a forward for Serie A club Udinese, and the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles.
Early Life
Isaac Success was born on the 7th of January, 1996, in Benin City, the city capital of Edo state, which falls among the South Southern states in Nigeria.
Career
Professional Career
Isaac Success began his career as a regular for the local club BJ Foundation Academy. In November 2013, Success and Udinese agreed to a five-year, €400,000 contract that would begin in January 2014. He did not, however, receive a work permit until March of the following year. He then joined the Granada CF, where he was given a reserve position in Segunda División B.
On August 31, 2014, Success made his first-team debut against Elche FC, starting the game at the age of 18 years and 7 months, making him the club’s youngest player to play in a La Liga game.
On December 7, he scored his first goal as a professional, tying the game at home against Valencia. On August 7, 2015, Success extended his contract with the team, signing a contract that would last until 2019, and was subsequently promoted to the starting lineup.
On July 1, 2016, Success signed a five-year contract with Watford for an estimated £12.5 million in a record-breaking transfer from Granada. He scored once in 19 appearances during the 2016-17 season. After making just one appearance in the 2017-18 season, he was loaned to Malaga on January 31, 2018. On August 26, 2021, Success signed a three-year contract with the Italian club Udinese.
International Career
In 2013, Success was chosen to play for Nigeria’s under-17 team and was also named vice-captain. He played in the first two games, but an injury forced him to miss the rest of the tournament. Success received his first call-up to the senior Nigerian team in October 2016, ahead of a match against Zambia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. On March 23, 2017, Success made his Nigerian debut at The Hive Stadium in London.
