Wema Bank Plc’s Board of Directors has nominated Dr. Oluwayemisi Olorunshola as its new Chairman, following the retirement of the incumbent Chairman, Babatunde Kasali.
This development was communicated to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) in a statement signed by Johnson Lebile, the Company Secretary/General Counsel of Wema Bank, in which the bank revealed that having reached the retirement age, Kasali will be retiring in accordance with the Bank’s articles of Association.
Dr. Oluwayemisi Olorunshola was named as one of the Bank’s independent Non-Executive Directors in 2022, where she also served as the Chairman of the Board’s Nomination and Governance Committee.
Oluwayemisi Olorunshola earned a B.Sc. in Education and Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, and a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from Walden University in the United States.
She is an experienced Supply Chain professional and business associate with over 15 years of corporate governance experience in multinational organizations such as Four Acres Training Facility, Unilever UK, FITC, Leighton Academy, and H Pierson, as well as over 10 years of business management experience.
Her professional background includes Business & Production Planning, Procurement, Distribution, Import & Export, and Logistics Services.
Oluwayemisi Olorunshola is a director and fellow of the International Institute for African Scholars, as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, a Member of the Institute of Directors, and a chartered member of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.
Olorunshola’s abundance of expertise allowed her to publish a widely read article on small company sustainability techniques in the Journal of Functional Education (JFEAcademia), Proquest.com, and Academia.edu, which has been cited by numerous scholars.
She has participated in numerous civic activities, where she has made significant contributions to the development of her town and other areas of influence.
