The Federal Government has received a loan of $163 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to increase wheat production in the country.
Kashim Shettima, the vice president, made the announcement in Argungu, Kebbi State, when he paid a condolence visit to the Argungu Emirate, the state government, and the family of a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Giro, who died recently.
According to Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information in the Vice President’s Office, Shettima, the program, which will be launched soon, will be properly accomplished in Jigawa State, with a cultivation of 50,000 hectares of land.
He also stated that the Federal Government requires 10,000 hectares of land in Kebbi State for wheat cultivation.
Shettima told Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will keep all commitments made to them, particularly in the area of agriculture, in order to maintain the country’s food security.
