Over 260,000 Candidates Write Mock Test Ahead of April UTME

Over 260,000 candidates took the 2024 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The mock exam, which was conducted on Thursday, was held at 793 computer-based test (CBT) centers around the country.

Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrant, spoke after observing the mock exam in some of Abuja’s centres.

According to Oloyede, the exam was designed to assess preparation for the main UTME, which will take place on April 19.

He revealed that the exam authority also held a recruiting exam for Nigerian police on Wednesday.

The registrar further stated that the only few disruptive situations detected during the mock UTME in around four centres would be rectified.

“So far, we have about three or four places where they have one issue or the other, but we are trying to get over that,” he told reporters.

“So, this is an excellent one. Even in the three cases where there are challenges, we will be able to accommodate them, even if they go completely down. But everything is going well, and the reports we have indicate that we are doing fine.”

Oloyede stated that 1.98 million candidates enrolled for the main 2024 UTME, with over 260,000 participating in the mock exam.

The JAMB head stated that the results of the mock UTME will be disclosed on March 7 or 8.

“We don’t want to convert our mock into another exam. That is why we did not allow more registrations for the mock exam,” the registrar stated.

“We are aware that we are embarking on an internal revolution this year, and we were concerned about its feasibility.

“We can now say we have arrived; what we said to ourselves about six, seven years ago, we have been able to achieve it today.”
