Paris Olympics: Brume, Usoro, Ochonogo Make History, Qualify for Women’s Long Jump Final

On Tuesday, Nigerian athletes Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor made history by reaching the women’s long jump final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This is the first time three Nigerian women have reached the Olympic final.

Brume jumped 6.7m to secure automatic qualification to the Games’ women’s long jump final.

While she was in risk of missing the final after struggling initially (she finished ninth), the Nigerian came up huge in her final jump to make it.

Her colleague Usoro jumped 6.76m, while Ochonogor leapt 6.65m to reach the final.

On Thursday, they will compete against 12 other competitors for a podium finish!
