Rema is One of World’s Biggest Artistes – Victor Osimhen

Nigerian player Victor Osimhen describes Rema as “one of the world’s biggest artistes.”

In a recent interview with CBS Sports Golazo, the Napoli center-forward discussed the growing global popularity of Afrobeats.

The 25-year-old player described Rema as “one of the biggest artistes in the world right now,” ranking him among Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

He added that Omah Lay, Seyi Vibez, and Asake are “also on the rise” — in terms of global popularity.

“Aside from Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, we have Asake, Seyi Vibez, and Omah Lay. We also have Rema, Rema is one of the biggest artistes in the world right now,” he said.

“Rema is there but these guys that I have called Omah Lay, Seyi Vibez and Asake are also on the rise. In a few years, I think they are really going to burst out just like Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy. So for me it is really good to be coming from Nigeria.”

Osimhen led Napoli to the Serie A title last season — the club’s first in 33 years.

The Super Eagles striker also scored 25 league goals, making him the league’s all-time leading scorer and the first African footballer to do so.

He recently won African Player of the Year at the CAF Awards.

Rema, on the other hand, has received a slew of positive feedback from music fans since his debut.

He secured a record deal with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a Mavin Records subsidiary, in 2019.

The singer released his eponymous debut EP ‘Rema’ in 2019.

‘Calm Down’, his hit single, has continued to rake in massive numbers on streaming services, break records, and earn awards.
