Late Thursday night, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest of controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, in connection with an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba nicknamed Mohbad.
However, facts about how the prominent music promoter was arrested have emerged.
According to a police source who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to comment on the topic, he was apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday evening.
He said, “Sam Larry was arrested at the airport after he arrived from Kenya. Our officers arrested him at the airport and he was immediately taken to the state police headquarters for questioning.”
Sam Larry’s name had come up frequently since the call for justice in Mohbad’s death gained traction.
His arrest also came after Azeez Fashola alias Naira Marley, late Mohbad’s former music label CEO, expressed his intention to return to Nigeria if his safety was assured.
According to HowNG, the police had already summoned the couple to question them about Mohbad’s death.
Last Monday, the police also announced that doctors had completed the autopsy on Mohbad, and that the police were awaiting the results.
Hundeyin said, “Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results.” This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s corpse by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.
The police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12.
