The SAB Foundation is now accepting applications for its 13th annual Social Innovation Awards and its ninth annual Disability Empowerment Awards, with prizes ranging from ZAR200,000 (US$11,000) to ZAR1.3 million (US$71,000).
The awards seek to assist South African entrepreneurs and social companies that can address social issues confronting low-income women, youth, and people living in rural regions while also developing a sustainable business model.
The Social Innovation Awards are open to innovators, entrepreneurs, institutions, and social enterprises with prototypes or early-stage businesses that can solve social issues in South Africa, while the Disability Empowerment Awards award entrepreneurs or social enterprises that have developed an innovation that improves access to the economy or provides solutions for persons with disabilities while generating enough revenue to become sustainable over time.
Aside from the grant funding, each award winner will receive business skills development coaching, mentorship, and technical support. Applications are open here until March 27.
