To mark the release of Davido’s album, Spotify hosted a pop-up listening experience in Lagos.
After much fan anticipation, Davido released ‘Timeless,’ a 17-track studio album, on March 31.
Spotify hosted a listening event for the singer’s fans on Saturday, April 1, in Lagos, to celebrate the release.
The event included art installations that chronicled Davido’s career and contextualized the new album.
Fans sang along to their favorite songs from ‘Timeless,’ with music policy determined by a team of disc jockeys.
The pop-up event featured a merchandise collaboration with Nigerian urban streetwear brand Severe Nature.
Tobi Mohammed of The Plug and Princess Okereugo of Sony Music West Africa were in attendance.
Davido, who was in the United States on promotional duties, sent a video message thanking the attendees for their support.
Spotify promoted ‘Timeless’ on a billboard in New York’s iconic Times Square as part of the celebration.
Davido’s album features production, songwriters, guest artists, and two of his label’s signees.
It includes collaborations with musicians such as Asake, Fave, Focalistic, Angelique Kidjo, and Skepta.
‘Timeless’ is Davido’s fourth studio album, following ‘OBO’ (2012), ‘A Good Time’ (2019), and ‘A Better Time’ (2019). (2020).
The singer previously revealed that ‘Timeless’ album concerts will take place in London, New York, and Lagos.
