Tems Talks Possible Collaboration With Arya Starr

Tems, a Nigerian singer, hailed her colleague, Ayra Starr, for being “hardworking”.

Tems recently appeared on NPR Music, performing songs from her debut album, ‘Born in the Wild’.

Speaking on the show, the Grammy Award winner said Starr is a terrific performer who “reminds me of myself”.

Tems, 29, believes the 22-year-old singer deserves the flowers since she is “hardworking and dedicated” to her trade.

“I would like to give flowers to this young girl called Ayra Starr,” she said.

“We met a few years ago and she just reminds me so much of myself. She is such a hardworking girl and she is doing the thing. She deserves some flowers.”

When asked if she and Ayra Starr will collaborate again, Tems replied, “Possibly”.

Starr, born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, became a viral celebrity after releasing the popular music ‘Bloody Samaritan’ in 2021.

Starr has established herself as one of the continent’s finest female artists, receiving countless honors and accolades.

She was one of the Nigerian music singers nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards.

Her hit song ‘Rush’ earned her a first-time nomination for ‘Best African Music Performance’. Starr lost to Tyla, a South African vocalist.

Tems, on the other hand, rose to prominence in 2020 with her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’. She released her debut EP ‘For Broken Ears’ in the same year.

In February 2023, the singer received her first Grammy. She won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ award for her role in Future’s 2022 hit song ‘Wait for U’, which features Drake.

In March, the singer received the ‘Breakthrough Award’ at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
