Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian professional footballer and striker for Serie A team SSC Napoli, has won the 2022 Best Foreign Athlete of the Year title in Italy.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Press Association in Italy, the 24-year-old prolific striker, who has remained a threat to many defense lines, was voted as the finest foreign athlete for his services to the sport by Foreign Press journalists.
Victor Osimhen has received numerous honors during the 2022-23 Serie A season, including the Stampa Estera Prize. The striker put in standout performances throughout the 2022-23 season, helping Napoli win the Serie A title. His 26 goals helped Napoli win their first league title in 33 years, becoming him the first African to win the Serie A top scorer award.
He was also voted ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ at the 2022 Globe Soccer Awards, defeating Barcelona’s Gavi and Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde for the accolade given to the world’s greatest young footballer.
Victor was brought to the Foreign news Awards ceremony and news conference by SSC Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis. According to the award’s organizers, the athlete was “fundamental to Napoli’s extraordinary success, thanks to his excellent play, great power, incredible speed, and vocation for scoring goals.”
