Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese footballer, featured a song by Asake, the Nigerian artist, in his most recent Instagram video.
The 39-year-old tweeted a video with roughly 640 million followers on Wednesday, showing him playing padel with Arturo Coello, the world champion. The Instagram post had Asake’s song ‘Active’ playing in the background.
In just six hours, the post received more than 1.4 million likes and 23,300 comments.
Asake also shared the footage on his Instagram Story.
‘Active’ is a tune from the Afrobeats singer’s third album, ‘Lungu Boy’, which was released in August. The Nigerian song included Travis Scott, a rapper from the United States.
Ronaldo, who recently reached 1 billion followers on social media, is widely recognized as one of the best footballers in history.
With five Ballon d’Or medals, three UEFA Men’s Player of the Year awards, and four European Golden Shoes, he is the most decorated European player.
The Portuguese international has also scored over 900 goals in his senior career, making him the world’s highest goal-scorer.
According to Forbes, Ronaldo is expected to earn $260 million in 2024, making him the highest-paid athlete worldwide.
He has the most social media followers, with 639 million on Instagram, 113 million on X, 170 million on Facebook, and 60 million on YouTube.
Asake, on the other hand, rose to popularity in 2020 with his hit single ‘Lady’. The singer joined Olamide’s record label, YBNL, in February 2022.
