mohbad death protest

Thousands of music fans have marched to the streets of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, to protest the murder of Mohbad, a promising artist.

Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday.

The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked debate on social media.

Supporters of the former Marlian Records signee could be seen in large numbers demanding justice for the deceased artist in now-viral footage published on social media.

The teenagers gathered in Abeokuta’s Panseke region to begin the march in memory of Mohbad.

The protesters also held placards with various inscriptions like “#JusticeForMohbad,” #WhoOffLight and #RIPMohbad among others.

It was gathered that the protest — which caused gridlock — was under police scrutiny.

Davido had previously stated that he would be returning to Nigeria from the United Kingdom on Thursday to participate in a candlelight march in memory of Mohbad.

Similarly, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo disclosed plans to head a protest squad on Wednesday to demand justice for the late singer.

On Monday, the Lagos state police command established a 13-man special investigative team to look into the singer’s death.

The Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has also requested DSS agents to participate in the ongoing investigation into the singer’s death.
