The music promoter, Sam Larry, claims he knows nothing about the death of Mohbad, a promising vocalist.
Mohbad, 27, was born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba and died on Tuesday. He was laid to rest on Wednesday.
An old footage of the singer being chased away from a music video shoot with Zlatan, the rapper, surfaced on social media shortly after his death.
In the video, Sam Larry and a group of guys arrive at the location of the shot and demand that Mohbad be dispatched.
It required Zlatan’s intervention to keep Larry from hitting Mohbad with what appeared to be a stick.
A copy of a petition filed by the late singer against Larry alleging threat to his life and damage of property also surfaced on social media on Thursday.
In the petition, dated June 27, 2023, Mohbad alleged that about fifteen persons “led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns and cutlasses”.
However, in a video on Friday, Larry said he “loves Mohbad so much” and “I cannot kill him.”
In the footage, the music promoter said the videos circulating on social media happened in the past.
Larry said in the case of any disagreement between himself and Mohbad, he still would not wish for the singer’s death.
“Mohbad is my brother and I liked him so much. Even when he was signed to Marlian Records, he knew that I had love for him,” he said in Yoruba language.
“His wife and everyone knows that I have love for Mohbad. Every time I travel, whether to Kenya or Dubai, I usually tell Mohbad to come with me.
“And that I will pay Marlian Records so that we can have our shows. So even if we had any misunderstandings, I still would not wish him dead.
“I cannot kill Mohbad. I love him so much and God sees my heart. I know nothing about the death of Mohbad.

“The videos that went viral happened a long time ago and last year. In the video showing Zlatan and Mohbad in the wheelchair, I did not touch Mohbad. Zlatan is my witness. People should ask him if I touched Mohbad.”
The palace of Elegushi of Eti-Osa earlier said Sam Larry is not a member of the royal family.
