Tawa Ajisefini, also known as Monkele, is a Nigerian actress, film producer, and brand influencer based in the United States. Tawa’s distinct acting technique is well-known in the Yoruba film industry.
Early Life & Education
Tawa Ajisefini was born on March 7, 1970, in Ibadan, Nigeria. She is the youngest of four children born into a four-child family in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital. She is from southwest Nigeria, specifically Osun. She attended Eleyele Police Children School for her primary education. She later transferred to Ibadan’s Our Lady of Apostle Secondary School. She is also a Theatre Arts graduate, which she chose because she has already mastered the practical side.
Tawa Ajisefini started performing when she was in high school. She made the decision to enter the Nollywood industry in 2003, and it paid off. In 2006, she enrolled in and graduated from the Ojopagogo Film School.
Tawa worked as a personal assistant to a well-known Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, before entering the Nigerian entertainment industry. She has appeared in several Nollywood films over the years, including ‘Okun Ife Yi,’ in which she co-starred with legendary actors Funke Akindele, Funsho Adeolu, Adebayo Faleti, and Feso Oyewole, among others, and ‘Opin Ireti.’
