Why I Built Music Studio in OAU – 2Baba

2Baba has revealed why he donated an ultra-modern recording studio to the music department of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

In March 2022, the singer commissioned the studio amid commendations from different stakeholders.

Speaking a briefing organised by his foundation on Monday, the ‘African Queen’ crooner said the gesture was to appreciate the varsity for awarding him honorary degree.

In 2019, the university had honoured the singer as a fellow of its school of music — making him the pioneer recipient of the award.

Reflecting on this, the musician said it was an honour to be inducted as a fellow of the university’s school of music.

He added that the project was part of his commitment to support the dreams of talented students trying to find their feet.

“I built the multi-million music studio in OAU because I was given an honorary degree, as a fellow of the music school of the university,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“That was really a huge honour for me and I promised them I was going to build a standard music studio for the school, which I did.

“My aim is to give the student’s a standard space for creativity and I hope that the next generation of super stars will emanate from there.”

The singer also announced that his “next album will be packaged in that studio.”
