Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has stated that his administration made the correct choice in appointing Dr. Olayide Adelami and Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi as Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government, respectively.
The governor, who spoke on Friday at the Government House in Akure after meeting Adelami and Oluwatuyi for the first time since their appointment, noted that he thought they were highly competent and well-equipped to carry out the obligations assigned to them.
Aiyedatiwa revealed that he received calls and messages from prominent figures, including traditional rulers and religious leaders, who praised the duo’s selection.
He said, “The time for a deputy governor has come, because the responsibilities have been immense, and I am grateful for the capable hands of Dr. Adelami and the prompt action of the SSG, Oluwatuyi, who has already begun his duties.
He noted that the tremendous response to the duo’s nomination and appointment demonstrated that he made the correct decisions for both roles.
Following Wednesday’s dissolution of the state Executive Council, the governor appointed Adelami, a former deputy clerk of the National Assembly, as his deputy and Oluwatuyi as SSG.
He had previously disbanded the state Executive Council, removing all political appointees appointed by the former governor, Late Rotimi Akeredolu.
