Wizkid Bags BRIT Award for One Billion Streams in UK

Wizkid is the latest global artist to be honored for surpassing one billion streams in the United Kingdom.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the BRIT Billion prize organizers announced that the ‘Made in Lagos’ hitmaker had been honoured with the prize.

The accolade was presented to the Afrobeats musician following his sold-out performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday.

“It’s one billion UK streams for @wizkidayo, who was presented with his BRIT Billion Award while in London for his incredible @spursofficial stadium show,” the post reads.

Wizkid’s extraordinary achievement as a recording artist in surpassing the landmark of one billion career streams in the UK, as determined by the Official Charts Company, is recognized with the BRIT Billion Award.

Wizkid was able to accomplish the feat thanks to songs such as ‘Essence,’ ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ and the ‘Made in Lagos’ album.

His performance at the Tottenham Stadium also makes him the first African artiste to headline a concert at “London’s largest stadium”.

Wizkid has done impressively well for himself in the global music space.

He rose to notoriety after collaborating with Drake on the hit tune ‘One Dance’ in 2016.

Wizkid is one of the biggest stars in African music, with a massive fan following, several accolades, and honourable mentions.

The musician recently hinted at a new album. He also performed at the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom.
