Yakubu Jubril is YQ’s real name. He is a well-known and professional Nigerian Afropop singer. He has written and produced numerous songs that have been broadcast all over the world; some of his albums include: I am you, Tomorrow ain’t promise, Adura, and others.
Early Life
YQ is a Nigerian Afropop musician born on the 1st of August, 1986. He is now 36 years old. He was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, which falls in the southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. But hails from Igala in Kogi state.
Career
YQ began his music career in 2002, and in 2003, he formed the band “Q-KREST,” which sang FIRE DANCE. They performed at Tetnisik in 2004 before splitting up, and YQ began his own solo career in 2007 when he was only 15 years old, a year before releasing his debut single in 2008. He has worked with many talented musicians, including Banky W, Terry G, Jaywon, Vector, Eldee, Mode 9, and Ice Prince.

YQ won the best collabo award in 2009, street pop in 2011, NEA in 2009 and 2011, plus Nigeria/Ireland music festival award in 2011.
Controversy
Back in October 2020, Yq had issues with an unidentified lady who kicked him out of the house in America, and after settling scores with each other, they got married on Sunday, the 13th of December 2020.
