Nigerian artists have continued to touch the globe with their work by creating remarkable projects, winning international accolades, collaborating with renowned global artists, and performing on world stages.

As more music fans discover the ‘Nigerian’ sound, here are 11 artists who have performed on international venues.

1. Rema

Rema, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner, delighted many when he performed at the recently finished Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris. Rema will not be playing on a global platform for the first time; in February 2023, he performed at the NBA All-Star Game and the 2023 Rolling Loud music festival in the Netherlands.

2. Davido

Born David Adeleke, a prominent Nigerian performer known as Davido, performed at the FIFA World Cup finals in 2022. In 2023, the singer was the first African act to perform at the BET Awards and the Professional Footballers’ Association Awards, and he made history as the first African act to perform at the award event.

 

3. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage created music history in May 2023 when she performed at the Coronation of King Charles III of England. Over 18 million people watched the ceremony online, while an estimated 20000 people attended.

 

4. Burna Boy

Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy, has played on a number of global venues, including the 2023 UEFA Champions League Final, the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, the 2023 Coachella festival, and the 2023 Glastonbury festival.

Temilade Openiyi aka Tems played at the 2022 Glastonbury Festival and graced the stage of the 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

The 2022 BET Awards saw former YBNL act Fireboy perform his smash hit records ‘Playboy and Peru.’
