Every year, the Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of postgraduate scholarships to outstanding students from designated underprivileged countries who do not have other means of paying their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant or 50% loan basis after a competitive application process once a year. The Foundation only aids students with tuition and living expenses. The scholar is generally free to attend any reputable university, with the exception of those in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, and Ireland.
2. Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarships
The ESED prize is intended to assist outstanding students pursuing further studies in sustainable energy development while also promoting significant contributions to the collective body of knowledge on the subject. Master’s students are eligible for scholarships of $21,000 per year for up to two years.
3. Joint Japan World Bank Scholarships
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Programme (JJ/WBGSP) assists students from poor nations in taking graduate courses leading to master’s degrees at preferred and partner universities worldwide. The scholarship includes tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance.
4. ADB Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) aims to enable well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. The ADB-JSP covers full tuition, a monthly food and housing stipend, books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.
5. Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships for Developing Countries
The Wells Mountain Foundation, a public nonprofit foundation based in Bristol, Vermont, USA, offers Empowerment through Education scholarships to people in developing nations or in extreme poverty. You can attend a university of your choice in your home country or another developing country. The average scholarship award is $1400, which can be used to cover tuition and fees, books and supplies, and other permitted expenses.
6. Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, in conjunction with UK universities, offers distance learning scholarships to people from impoverished Commonwealth countries. Scholarships cover Masters-level tuition rates for students studying abroad.
7. Edinburgh Global Distance Learning Scholarships
The University of Edinburgh will give 12 scholarships to residents of selected developing nations to pursue one of the University’s more than 30 distance learning Master’s degrees. Each scholarship will cover full tuition for three years.
