7 Things You Should Never Apply On Your Face

The face is a prominent yet delicate portion of the body, which is why individuals go to great lengths to make it smooth. But, in order to maintain their faces smooth, people turn to DIYs and are not cautious.

Whilst these DIYs appear to be the most cost-effective and natural way to treat facial problems, some are harmful to your facial skin.

Hence, here are a few things you should never say to your face.

  • Antiseptic soaps

You may believe that antiseptic soaps are ideal for your face since they kill harmful microorganisms.

To be honest, they will not treat your acne or facial problems and will cause more harm than good.

Numerous studies have found that these soaps kill good bacteria in the face, irritate it, and make it more susceptible to infections.

As a result, it is best to use a gentle face cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type.

  • Lemon

Lemon is arguably one of the most used natural products on the face. It is, ironically, one of the elements to avoid.

Lemon is extremely acidic and can cause significant skin irritation and dryness, particularly in persons with sensitive skin.

It contains a substance called psoralen, which, according to one study, makes you extremely sensitive to light and sun.

It takes around 10 to 15 minutes to activate and roughly 24 hours to wear off. Thus, if you apply lemon and then go outside in the sun, you may wind up with blisters on your face.

  • Toothpaste

The ingredients in toothpaste are mostly for your teeth, not your face or skin!

From fluoride to triclosan, none of the toothpaste’s chemicals are safe for your face.

Another common chemical in toothpaste, sodium lauryl sulfate, has been linked to potential hazards to the face.

According to studies, it can remove the natural oil from the skin, making it appear dry and drab. Furthermore, by opening up the pore, it encourages acne-causing germs to penetrate deeper into the skin.

  • Coconut oil

Coconut oil is undeniably one of the best natural moisturizers for the skin, however it should not be used on the face. This is because the skin of the face is more sensitive.

Because coconut oil is very comedogenic, it will only clog your pores and worsen your acne. Those with oily or acne-prone skin, in particular.

  • Sugar

This is a common home item that is used on the face, especially as an exfoliator.

Yet, rubbing sugar on your face might cause micro tears due to its harsh texture. This can result in facial skin damage.

It can also cause facial irritation, dryness, and redness.

  • Hot water

A hot bath looks to be relaxing but it’s not the ideal solution for your skin and face.

It depletes the facial skin’s natural oils and moisture balance. It also dries up the skin, increasing the likelihood of infection.

  • Baking soda

Baking soda is generally not hazardous, however it irritates the skin of the face.

When you wash your face with baking soda, you are removing the skin’s protective oil barrier, altering its pH, and disrupting the natural microorganisms on the surface that help prevent infection and acne.

This can result in bare skin that is susceptible to infection and breakouts.
