Anthony Victor, also known as Victony, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper born on January 5, 2001. Broken and Sing My Song are two of his most popular songs. Victony was signed to Mainland BlockParty & Jungle Records and appeared on the Mayorkun Back In Office album track “Holy Father.” Saturn, Victony’s debut studio album, was released in August 2020. In May 2022, he released Apollo and his debut studio album, Outlaw.
Early Life
Victony was born on January 5, 2001, in southwest Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony. He comes from a middle-class family, so as a child, he did not have access to the good things in life. Victony became interested in music after being influenced by artists such as Falz, Davido, Wizkid, MI Abaga, and Olamide. Victony had a wonderful voice, so he began preparing himself by recording verses, which later helped him become a successful young Nigerian artist.
Career
Victony released his first single, “Ina The Benz,” after several practices and a lot of melodies. Because the song was his first appearance in the Nigerian music industry, he was unable to generate enough listeners.
Mainland BlockParty & Jungle Records
He signed a record label deal with Mainland BlockParty & Jungle Records after mastering the Nigerian music industry, which paved the way for him. Saturn was the title of his first studio album. The Saturn album was released on August 28, 2020. Victony’s debut EP, Maria, which featured Falz in one of the songs, was a success because many people listened to it and praised him for his rapping ability.
Victony surprised music fans at Mavin rapper’s Revival Sunday series by rapping with Ladipoe in the online revival series.
2021, Holy Father
In 2021, Victony released his first song of the year, “Broken,” which gained massive attention from music lovers in the country. It was produced by Hoodini.
Victony was featured in Mayorkun second album, “Back In Office“, in a song titled “Holy Father”. It was released through Sony Music on October 29, 2021.
Outlaw Album
On May 6, 2022, Victony released his highly anticipated extended playlist titled Outlaw. “Everyone has an opinion [about] what you should do,” he said in an interview with Apple Music, “and I just want to be myself.” He embraces his sense of freedom in this playlist, which became more apparent after his April 2021 accident, which left him severely injured.
Personal Life
Accident & Surgery, Davido Concert
On April 25, 2021, the internet was saddened to learn that Victony had been in a terrible car accident. He was rushed to the hospital, and a Gofundme account was set up to help pay for his surgery. He was confined to a wheelchair following successful surgery.
Victony stood up to perform for the first time since his accident on December 25, 2021, at the “A Decade of Davido” concert. He performed Holy Father with Mayorkun.
