Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke is a Nigerian politician and businessman who served as a senator in the Osun-West senatorial district from 2017 to 2019. Because of his dancing ability, he is popularly known as the “dancing senator.” He was the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election, which he won.
Early Life and Education
Adeleke was born in Ede, Osun State, on May 13, 1960, into the well-known Adeleke family. His mother, Nnena Esther Adeleke, is an Igbo-Christian, and his father, Raji Ayoola Adeleke, is a Muslim. His two older brothers’ names are Dr Adedeji Adeleke and Late Mr Isiaka Adeleke. He is his parents’ third and final child.
Adeleke began his primary education at Methodist Primary School in Surulere, Lagos State, and later transferred to Nawarudeen Primary School in Ikire, Old Oyo State. He attended Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School, Ede, in what was then Old Oyo State, and later Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede, where he completed his secondary education before moving to the United States. He left Nigeria to continue his studies in the United States of America, where he joined his two older brothers. He began his higher education at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, where he majored in criminal justice with a minor in political science.
Following the controversies surrounding his educational qualifications, he returned to school. He returned to school and enrolled at Atlanta Metropolitan State College in the United States, where he will graduate in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
From 1985 to 1989, Ademola Adeleke worked as a service contractor for Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. From 1990 to 1994, he was vice president at Origin International LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, a flavor and fragrance manufacturing company. Adeleke is a businessman and administrator who served as executive director of Guinness Nigeria Plc from 1992 to 1999, alongside General Theophilus Danjuma. He was the group executive director of his brother’s company, Pacific Holdings Limited, from 2001 to 2016.
Adeleke entered politics with his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who died in April 2017. Adeleke’s political career began in 2001. After his brother died in 2017, he ran in and won the Osun West by-election under the People’s Democratic Party. Ademola previously belonged to the All Progressives Congress before joining the People’s Democratic Party. Adeleke defeated Akin Ogunbiyi by seven votes in the PDP’s governorship election in Osun State on July 23, 2018.
On September 22nd, 2018, he was declared the winner of the Osun State governorship election, but the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared it inconclusive. On the 27th of September 2018, the state held a rerun election in which he lost to the incumbent, Governor Gbotega Oyetola, and on the 5th of July 2019, the Supreme Court declared Gboyega Oyetola the winner.
Adeleke was elected governor of Osun state in 2022.
Mrs Titilola Adeleke is Adeleke’s wife. Adebayo Adeleke, also known as B-Red, Shina Adeleke, also known as Shina Rambo, and Nike Adeleke are the names of the couple’s two sons and one daughter. They’re all in the entertainment business. He is also the uncle of David Adeleke, a popular Nigerian musician known by his stage name Davido.
Adeleke was accused and charged of falsifying his secondary school transcript and WAEC results. He was asked by the Osogbo high court to withdraw his governorship candidacy. Adeleke’s declaration to INEC on July 20, 1988, was made when Osun State was not yet a state. Furthermore, the SSCE results mentioned in the testimony showed that the examination format was not used in 1981. The principal who signed the 1988 testimonial also signed the 2018 testimonial, according to the 2018 Heading, Ede Muslim High School testimonial.
The principal was arrested as a result of this, and Adeleke’s attorney claims that his secondary school has not publicly refuted the testimony. As a result, the principal was arrested. Adeleke’s defense attorney claims that Adeleke’s secondary school has not publicly refuted his testimony and requests that the case be dismissed. Adeleke’s forgeries were declared inadmissible by the court, and the case was dismissed. According to one of the witnesses’ testimony in court, Adeleke was not present in the examination room.
