Cobhams Asuquo Reveals Inspiration Behind Song With Sauti Sol

Cobhams Asuquo, the Nigerian singer and composer, has revealed the inspiration for his latest hit, ‘Lady Fiona’.

On January 19, Cobhams released ‘Lady Fiona’, his first song of the year, which featured Kenyan music band Sauti Sol.

The 43-year-old singer said he penned ‘Lady Fiona’ from “a place of love” when asked about it.

“Lady Fiona is for the lovers. It’s a love song, it’s a beauty song,” he said.

“I think people should just listen to it and ingest it and digest it and love it like I love it. It was made from a place of love. You will see and hear more of it.”

Cobhams spoke at the Lunch of The Reach, one of the world’s oldest whiskies, held last weekend in Lagos.

Mai Atafo, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, and Audu Maikori are among the notable attendees.

Cobhams serenaded guests with a rendition of his song ‘New Beginning’ before giving a heartfelt performance of ‘Angels All Around.’

Despite his blindness, the artist, who was born on January 6, 1981, has maintained his popularity as a songwriter/music producer/singer.

His expertise as a music producer has led him to collaborate with some of Nigeria’s most well-known musicians.

He has also appeared with bands at international music festivals including the Harare International Festival of Arts and the French Cultural Center Concert.
