Davido Credits Foundation Account with N300m for Orphans

Davido, the Afrobeats musician, has credited his non-profit organisation’s account with N300 million for distribution to orphans across Nigeria.

On Tuesday, the musician stated he will donate the amount to Nigerian orphans through the David Adeleke Foundation.

Davido explained that the gesture is part of his annual donation to the nation.

“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria … as my yearly contribution to the Nation .. details of disbursement tomorrow,” he wrote.

An X user, however, taunted the singer, saying the donation was for “eye service”.

“This guy reminds me of that movie ‘She must be obeyed. Oju Aiye sha,” the X user wrote.

But on Wednesday, the music star quoted the critic’s post with a screenshot showing proof of the transaction. The account balance also showed the sum of N306,420,973.

“Foundation account credited…. More details to follow soon,” he wrote.

Davido began his humanitarian habit in November 2021, on his birthday.

The ‘Timeless’ hitmaker started a Twitter fundraiser and gave N250 million to orphanages.

In July last year, the Afrobeats star donated N237 million to orphanages across Nigeria.

The 31-year-old musician went on to restate his ongoing commitment to assisting the underprivileged in any way he could.

The donation comes at a time when many Nigerians are experiencing economic difficulty as a result of President Bola Tinubu’s policies.
