Naira Marley, a Nigerian musician, has disputed reports that he signed DJ Splash to his record label, Marlian Music.
Since the death of Mohbad, his former label signee, Marley has faced a barrage of criticism and claims.
The investigation into Mohbad’s death has also sparked concerns regarding DJ Splash, an alleged Marlian Music partner.
DJ Splash’s mother claimed in a viral tape that Naira Marley invited her son to live with him and promised to finance his college expenses.
She went on to say that Marley eventually failed DJ Splash and that her kid has been “mentally unstable” since leaving his residence.
Marley denied accusations that DJ Splash was his official DJ or that he was signed to his music label in an interview with Reno Omokiri.
He claimed that many had mistakenly assumed DJ Splash’s identity based on an image of them together.
He also stated that the DJ was not present when he began experiencing problems. He called the claims “lies” as well.
“DJ Splash was never signed to Marlian Music; I know him as a DJ, but he has never deejayed with me at shows or anything, it is not like he is my DJ. They just gave him the title because I have a picture with him,” he said.
“When whatever happened to him, he was not at my house, and I do not understand where all this is coming from.
“DJ Splash, DJ whatever, I do not understand where it is coming from, that is all lies, they are just bringing out people from nowhere to tell lies.”
On September 26, Marley announced his intention to return to Nigeria to help with the continuing inquiry into Mohbad’s death.
He also claimed that he had no participation in Mohbad’s death and had no need to flee.
