FCMB Appoints Two New Board Members

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has strengthened its leadership by selecting Ademola Adebise and Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adedibu to the Board of Directors.

The bank announced these nominations on Wednesday, after receiving permission from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Ademola Adebise, who has over 30 years of banking expertise, currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of FCMB. He most recently served as Managing Director of Wema Bank Plc, where he contributed significantly to the bank’s expansion. Adebise’s financial and managerial skills make him an invaluable addition to the board.

He has a bachelor’s degree in computer technology from the University of Lagos and an MBA from the Lagos Business School. Adebise is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He has expanded his knowledge through executive programs at the University of Cambridge and the Harvard Business School.

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adedibu, an accomplished lawyer, adds 32 years of legal and financial experience to the FCMB board. She is currently the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary for the FCMB Group. Her knowledge of business law and compliance is valuable in today’s regulated environment.

Adedibu holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master of Law degree from the University of Lagos. She also has a Barrister-at-Law degree from the Nigerian Law School. Before joining the banking industry, she worked at Chris Ogunbanjo & Co., where she got experience in litigation, corporate law, copyrights, and patent law.

Under Balogun’s leadership, FCMB has maintained its position as a dominant participant in Nigeria’s banking sector. Adebise and Adedibu’s skills will help achieve these aims, notably in digital transformation and regulatory compliance.

FCMB’s choice to appoint these experienced individuals demonstrates its commitment to excellent governance and leadership. With Adebise’s financial acumen and Adedibu’s legal competence, the bank is well-positioned to face future difficulties and opportunities in the competitive banking business.
