Former Anambra Deputy Speaker Oseke Dies At 64

Harford Oseke, the former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has died.

He was 64 years old and from Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

While some sources claim Oseke collapsed during his normal workout regimen at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Monday, others say he was sick and was in the hospital until the news of his death came on Monday.

He was a law graduate who had recently earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.

Oseke began his political career with the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and during Peter Obi’s government, he ran for and won a seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader before becoming Deputy Speaker.

There has been no official word from the family or the state government, but a close relative, who requested anonymity, said the loss was one too many for Anambra, which has recently lost several fine politicians in quick succession.
