Early Life
Alex Usifo, a well-known Nigerian movie actor and entrepreneur, was born in Lagos in the 1950s to Mr. Barnabas and Mrs. Patricia Anobi Usifo.
Alex’s father worked for Central Bank when he was born on April 16, 1953. Usifo received his primary and secondary education in Ibadan and at St. Bosco’s Grammar School in Ubiaja, Edo State.
Alex began selling fried fish and fruits after finishing high school to supplement his parents’ meager earnings.
After five years, he became self-sufficient and began working for NTA Benin. In 1978, he applied to and was admitted to St. Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Bodiji, Ibadan.
In the midst of financial difficulties, he left the seminary school to pursue a Diploma Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
Career
Usifo joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1984. ‘The Return of the Native’ by Jimmy Atteh was the first movie he featured in.
