Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has appointed Haruna Dlakwa as the acting vice-chancellor (VC) of Borno State University, Maiduguri.

Dlakwa’s appointment was confirmed by Bukar Tijani, secretary to the state government, in a statement released on Wednesday.

Tijani stated that the appointment was made following the proposal of the university’s governing council during its tenth meeting on April 15.

”Zulum sends sincere greetings to Dlakwa and wishes him the best till the formal Vice-Chancellor is selected for the university,” he stated.

Dlakwa was the university’s deputy vice-chancellor of academics prior to his current post.

Borno State University was established in 2016. It contains five faculties (Sciences, Management, Arts, Social Science, and Education) and more than 20 departments.

Umar Kyari Sandabe was the university’s pioneer vice chancellor.

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s former president, inaugurated the university’s senate building in June 2021.
