How An Artiste Stole My Idea, Recorded Album With It – Omah Lay

Omah Lay mentioned that a creative idea he had with a fellow artist was incorporated on their album.

During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, the hitmaker revealed that his 2023 hit single, ‘Holy Ghost’, marked a shift in his sound.

He stated that he planned to use the sound to create a new album and had shared the creative concept with a “certain artiste” — whose name was not given but who had approached him for a cooperation.

The 27-year-old claimed the musician released an album with the identical sound five months later, forcing him to recreate his entire project.

Omah Lay also described his upcoming album as the “greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history”.

“My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound but along the line, I changed my mind,” he said.

“I shared an idea with a certain artiste and the artiste went ahead and put out an album with my idea and I had to re-record my album. He came to me and I agreed to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artiste that I love.

“And I told him where I was headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly the same sound that I shared with him. I had to go back and remake my album which is actually going to be the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”

Omah Lay rose to fame in 2020 following the release of his two hit singles ‘You’ and ‘Bad Influence’.

He has continued to make a name for himself in the Nigerian music industry, especially with his unique music style.
