Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, an Afrobeats star, plans to collaborate with female American rappers Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and other major performers in the music industry.
The Nigerian, who stole the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), discussed his collaboration with American soprano Selena Gomez, stating he wants to do more of them.
“I want to meet Meg and Nicki. I want to hang out with the girls,” he told Holywood Reporters.

Rema who took up the award for ‘Best Afrobeats’ at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), described the endeavour as “huge” for him and expressed gratitude that the “rest of the world connected with it”.
“It’s a big one for me. First and foremost, just being friends and progressing to the music side of things was really organic,” he remarked.
Rema collaborated with Gomez on the remix of ‘Calm Down,’ a hit off his debut album, in 2022.
The song’s remix has continued to rake in large numbers on streaming sites, shatter records, and win awards since its release.
He beat Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and others to win the first-ever 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for “Best Afrobeats Song” on Tuesday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, USA.
Selena Gomez instantly expressed her love for Nigeria after Rema’s second verse in the song “Calm Down.”
