Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is a Nigerian businessman and entrepreneur who also serves in the Nigerian Senate as the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District. He is also the CEO of Capital Oil, which he founded in 2001. He owns the Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club as well.

Early Life & Education

Ifeanyi Ubah was born on September 3, 1971, as the first of seven children to teachers Mr. Alphonsus Ubah and Mrs. Patty Ubah in Otolo, one of the four quarters of Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria. Because his parents were unable to support his academic and material needs, Ifeanyi dropped out of Premier Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, at a young age to pursue a trade. He has attended leadership and business management courses and seminars both locally and internationally.

Career

Business Career

Ifeanyi began his career as a motor tyre and spare parts exporter in West African countries such as Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo before expanding his activities to Belgium and the United Kingdom. In 2001, he established Capital Oil and Gas Limited. He is the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., a Nigerian Premier League football team that was originally known as Gabros International Football Club, and the founder of The Authority Newspaper, a Nigerian daily newspaper.

The Authority Newspaper

Ifeanyi Ubah launched The Authority Newspaper on October 19, 2015. In Nigeria, The Authority is a daily newspaper. The Authority Media and Publications Limited is the publisher. It is a multiracial network newspaper with national and international coverage.

He also founded Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., a Nigerian football team, in 2015. In 2016, his football club was the first in Nigeria to sign Brazilian players and coaches. Ifeanyi Ubah F.C. also collaborated with a European club, England’s West Ham United FC, and won the Nigeria FA Cup within a year of his ownership.

Politics

Ifeanyi Ubah, who ran on the Labour Party platform, lost the 2014 Anambra gubernatorial election. Ifeanyi Ubah, a candidate of the Young Progressive Party(YPP), was declared the winner of the Anambra South Senatorial elections on February 24, 2019.

Personal Life

Ifeanyi Ubah is married to Uchenna Ubah, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in business management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). She is the Executive Director of  Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited. They have a total of five children together.

Controversy

On Thursday, 11 April 2019, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kubwa, Abuja, based on a suit filed by Mr. Obinna, allegedly dismissed Ifeanyi from the Senate. Uzor has asked the court to declare Ubah’s election null and void because he allegedly ran in the senate election on February 23, 2019, using a forged National Examination Council certificate. The Court of Appeal in Abuja confirmed the election of Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) as senator for Anambra South on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

 

Gunmen Attack

 

Several people including policemen were killed as gunmen attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in Nkwo Enugu Ukwu area of Anambra State. The incident was said to have happened, Sunday, September 11, 2022.

It was gathered that the gunmen open fire on Ubah’s security aides killing several of them. The senator was said to have escaped because of his Bullet Proof SUV.

Influence and Impact

Ifeanyi runs the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, which bears his name. The foundation was created with the aim of creating social welfare for the poor masses.
