In 2023, Nigerian Entrepreneur Emmanuel Okeleji’s SeamlessHR Handled $311M Payroll Across Africa

SeamlessHR, a payroll and HR software startup run by Nigerian tech entrepreneur Emmanuel Okeleji, has claimed that it has handled a record N500 billion ($311.2 million) in payroll for various African businesses in 2023.

This achievement not only demonstrates SeamlessHR’s commitment to promoting African businesses, but also its ability to ease complicated operations such as payroll management, leave management, and performance management for institutions with large staff bases.

Building on its remarkable performance in 2022, when it raised $10 million in a Series-A fundraising round headed by TLcom Capital, SeamlessHR expanded its operations into key African market segments. Its current milestone demonstrates the startup’s dedication to providing smooth and effective payroll solutions across the continent.

Under the leadership of Okeleji, CEO and co-founder, SeamlessHR remained the preferred partner for organizations in a variety of industries, including banking, financial services, manufacturing, oil and gas, and government agencies. This enabled the corporation to process a record $311.2 million in payroll during the last year.

Okeleji emphasized his enthusiasm, saying, “At SeamlessHR, our mission is more than just processing numbers; it’s about empowering businesses, making them more productive, and ensuring that working people in Africa have a better life.” This milestone represents not only our expertise, but also the confidence that businesses have in us as a trusted partner on their path to success.

SeamlessHR’s client list includes notable companies such as Letshego MFB, Ampersand, Maisha Meds, Jibu Africa, Sterling Bank, VFD Group, Coronation, Wema Bank, and PiggyVest. Over $70 million was directly transferred by SeamlessPayroll during the same time period, underlining the company’s critical role in supporting frictionless financial transactions.

SeamlessHR, founded in 2018 by Okeleji and Deji Lana, is a Lagos-based human resources technology firm dedicated to providing world-class technology solutions for managing and streamlining HR data and process.

As Africa’s first locally managed HR company, SeamlessHR meets the HR needs of employers across the continent, assisting businesses in leveraging their most valuable asset: human capital.

Under Okeleji and Lana’s innovative leadership, SeamlessHR has grown into Africa’s premier payroll and HR technology firm, servicing approximately 1,000 medium to big businesses in over 20 countries.

SeamlessHR, which already has locations in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya, recently moved into Botswana, consolidating its position as a prominent player in the African HR technology market.
