Minnesota Man Spends $170K on Leg-Lengthening Surgery to Grow Taller

Moses Gibson, a Minnesota man, reportedly spent more than $170,000 on two leg-lengthening surgeries to help him grow 5 inches taller and gain confidence in the dating scene.

Gibson discussed his struggles with his height and how it prevented him from finding a girlfriend.

He stood at 5-foot-5 inches before the leg lengthening surgery and even took pills that falsely advertised they would help him grow.

The 41-year-old even spoke with a spiritual healer, who allegedly told him it was possible if he focused his mind on his height.

Gibson then did more research and discovered that he could gain some inches by undergoing surgery.

Gibson worked as a software engineer during the day and as an Uber driver at night to save for the surgery, and he was able to save more than $75,000 over a three-year period.

In 2016, he had his first surgery, which added three inches to his height, leaving him at 5ft 8 inches.

“After the first procedure, I was happy with it to some extent, but it was always in my mind that I wanted to do a second one to complete it. I’m a high achiever. I’ve got the money, and I can finish the journey,” he explained.

Gibson saved up $98,000 for a second procedure in March of this year, with the goal of adding two inches to his height.

Doctors broke his tibia and fibula bones during surgery to insert magnetic, Iimb-lengthening nails into them, allowing the body to grow new bone tissue to fill in the gaps for its new height.

Gibson expects the surgery to help him grow to at least 5 feet and 11 inches, as he uses a height-lengthening device to help him grow by millimeters, noting that the procedures have helped him talk to women and he’s currently in a relationship.

Leg lengthening, also known limb lengthening is a surgical treatment that can reduce or correct limb-length discrepancies.

People who have a significant height difference between their legs or a limb length discrepancy due to a medical condition, such as dwarfism or a previous injury, are typically candidates for this surgery.

The treatment lengthens a bone in a patient’s arm or leg while also stretching the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around it.

A small incision in the leg bone is made, and an external fixator device is inserted. The fixator is made up of metal pins that are inserted into the bone and are connected to a metal frame outside the leg. The pins are gradually adjusted over several months to stretch the bone and stimulate new bone growth.

This process can be uncomfortable and requires a lot of physical therapy, but it can significantly increase leg length.
