Friends of Mohbad have raised almost N30 million to support the late singer’s son, according to Samklef, a Nigerian singer-turned-producer.
Ilerioluwa ‘Mohbad’ Aloba passed away on September 12 and was buried the following day.
The circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old’s death have sparked debate on social media.
The late singer is believed to have a child, named Liam, with Omowumi, his lover.
Shortly after Mohbad’s demise, well-meaning Nigerians launched a fundraiser for the late singer’s five-month-old baby.
Samklef took to X on Tuesday to reveal that Nigerians have raised the sum of “N32,744,900 so far for Mohbad’s son.
“So far we have raised! N32,744,900 so far for mohbad son! God bless everyone contributing there is the deputy governor of Lagos state @drobafemihamzat paying last respects for imole! mohbad,” he wrote in a post on X.

During a condolence visit by a Lagos state team led by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat on Tuesday, the government also vowed to look after the youngster.
On Monday, the Lagos state police command established a 13-man special investigative team to look into the singer’s death.
The Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has also requested DSS agents to participate in the ongoing investigation into the singer’s death.
