A Nigerian artist, Peter Enehe, sought to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest marathon sketching caricatures by an individual.
Enehe announced his intention to sketch for 90 hours in a social media post.
The Chinbell Luxury Hotel and Suites in Lekki, Lagos, hosted the four-day event on January 25-28.
During the activity, Enehe garnered a large crowd of Nigerians who gathered at the place to support him. Friends and family also flooded social media with supportive messages for Peter.
In a post via X on Monday, the Kogi-born artist said he has broken the current record at 78 hours.
“And with this, we break the current record. Now the journey begins. A journey to set a new record for the longest marathon caricature drawing,” he wrote.
It remains to be seen whether the respected British reference book is aware of his attempts.
Hariom Kumar Singh, an Indian performer, established the current record on 11 November 2017. He completed the feat in 77 hours, 1 minute, and 16 seconds in Uttar Pradesh, India, from November 8 to 11, 2017.
Hariom created 712 distinct caricatures throughout this time.
Enehe joins a growing list of Nigerians who have sought to achieve new world records since the beginning of 2023.
